Speaker: John Halpin

John Halpin, of the custom wood veneer/architectural panel manufacturing business Saunders Wood Specialties , Inc has been involved in the wood products industry for 30 years. He has served on the Architectural Woodwork Institute (AWI WI) Board of Directors since 1991.

As president of the Wisconsin Chapter he has received the Claude Twillenmeier Leadership Award in 2005.

As an industry and association leader, Mr. Halpin was a team member for the AWI Quality Standards Section 500 and the Team Leader for the 1986 QS revision Section 200. Many of the illustrations in the Quality Standards are reprinted from the book "Understanding Wood Veneer" by John Halpin. From his 3 decades of accumulated knowledge and experience, he is recognized nationally as an expert in the use and appearance of wood veneer panels and those related AWI Quality Standards.

Daily he works with many design teams to develop appropriate specifications, sourcing and defining the specific wood veneer flitches for every special project. In the plant, he assists in the veneer layout process to assure the design vision comes to fruition.
